More Than A Game
Love or loathe him, LeBron James is one of the most talented players in the league, arguably the most so. He signed with the Heat and his instant impact has led them to the NBA Finals in his first season there.
Like anybody else, his journey wasn’t easy, but it does make a great story. Here for your viewing pleasure is the full-length documentary about LeBron’s high school basketball team, “More Than A Game.”
OK Ray Ray…stop being so cute.
This site’s name and logo are based off a South Park reference and I haven’t posted one South Park-related anything yet? Wow, sorry about that, here you are, part of the Magic Johnson AIDS episode.
Just a heads up: strong language and mature content are prevalent here. It is South Park, after all.
Much Ado About Basketball: 1st-Team All-NBA Thug
Great new post from Bobby Long, check it out:
Allen Iverson: What makes AI a thug? He may not be the only player to dislike practice but he is the only player to voice his opinion on the matter. Had he had that press conference in 2011, it would be perhaps the most viewed NBA video on YouTube. Not only was AI the first to rock the…
And the most jaw dropping thing - in one week LeBron will go from guarding an MVP PG to a 7 foot PF who hasn’t missed in a month.
With 3:53 left, the Bulls were up 76-64.
Let me repeat that: with under four minutes left in the game, Chicago was up 12. How could you lose a lead like that? A professional basketball team that plays host to the league’s Most Valuable Player and Coach of the Year blew a 10+ point lead in under three minutes: LeBron tied the game at 79-79 with a three, which came after a FOUR-POINT PLAY from Dwyane Wade and another LeBron three.
The Bulls got outscored 26-18 in the fourth quarter. This is a Bowser-like collapse: the Bulls built their fortress up with koopas, what should be enough defense to ward of a portly Italian plumber who eats ‘shrooms he finds in floating boxes, and nice performances from Rose and Deng. However, in one seemingly simple move, Mario walked under Bowser as he jumped in his castle and hit the axe behind him, crumbling the bridge upon which he stood and sent him to the lava below. With three simple three-point shots, a 10-2 run over the course of 66 seconds took down what seemed solid and sure.
The Dallas Mavericks meet the Miami Heat in the NBA Finals sometime next week, you’ll find out when eventually.
I just finished crunching some numbers, and I’ll let them do the talking (then I might do some complementary talking after):
LeBron, Wade and Rose in potential playoff series-winning games since 2009
Lebron James
5W, 1L // 27PPG, 9.2REB, 7.2AST
Dwyane Wade
2W, 2L // 28.3PPG, 8REB, 5AST
Derrick Rose
2W, 2L // 19.3PPG, 3.5REB, 7.8AST
Based on these numbers alone, both Wade and LeBron have had great success and great performances in closing out a series or two, while Rose has been solid, but not as star-like as the Miami two. That on top of the fact that the Bulls have dropped the last three games to the Bulls leads me to believe that I will be writing a Heat/Mavericks NBA Finals preview post soon.
Game 5 at 8:30ET tonight on TNT.
EDIT: I probably should have found Rose’s numbers from potential playoff series losing games, as that is the situation he’s in, but oh well. Game’s on now on TNT, check it out.
Larry Bird: A Basketball Legend (Part 1)
Dirk’s been drawing a lot of comparisons to “The Hick from French Lick” recently (“The Trick from Munich,” anybody? No, you’re right, that was awful). Here’s a refresher on what Larry Bird was all about. I used to have this on VHS and watch it religiously as a kid, and here it is now for you; part 1 above, the other parts linked below (total length is about an hour).
Part 2 // Part 3 // Part 4 // Part 5 // Part 6 // Part 7 // Part 8
I’m not happy at all… I’m not happy for [Dirk Nowitzki] at all, because I want to be there.
Kevin Durant, on Dirk making it to the NBA Finals.
You gotta respect that kind of heart. // Like NBAmmkay on Facebook
In honor of the fabulous season the Thunder have had, here are Durant’s top 10 plays from this past season (couldn’t find a team top 10 video, this’ll do).
Dallas won tonight’s game (again, from behind) 100-96 and wins the series 4-1, advancing to the NBA Finals against the winner of MIA/CHI.
Mike Brown to be the next Laker coach?
Dude’s a former coach of the year, good call, LA. Correct me if I’m wrong, but would that make the Lakers the only team to have a coach and player with the same last name (Shannon Brown)?
